It all started when...
I was in nursing school in October 2010 and needed a way to deal with the stress of it all. I turned to writing and found my passion. I wrote off and on since that time.
My first blog was focused on creating and sharing healthy, family friendly recipes at Recipes Redesigned.
From there I expanded my focus to write about life. In October 2014 I started Live Simply Truly with this new focus. I asked a few friends to join me in this new venture so there would be a wide array of voices for this lifestyle site.
I rediscovered yoga in October 2013 when I was looking for some inspiration for my exercise routine. I researched good exercise instructors on YouTube and began working my way down the list. About 2-3 weeks into November I found Yoga with Adriene. That was it. I was hook! From then on it was Yoga with Adriene all the way for me.
Rediscovering yoga with the guidance of Adriene was a turning point in my life. I finally began to cultivate self-love and acceptance. And after years of feeling like the odd duck wherever I was, I finally found my tribe within the YWA community.
In November 2015 I created a yoga calendar with the YWA foundation videos. It was a helpful tool for many people in the community so I created another one in December. That was the start of me creating themed monthly FWFG Yoga Calendars for Yoga with Adriene and the community.
In addition to blogging on my own site, I now work full time as a community manager for YWA. I first met Adriene and her business partner, Chris in person at the first FWFG Yoga Retreat in Nicaragua in June 2016. They are two of the nicest, most genuine, funny, and hardworking people I have ever meet. It is an honor to work with people who share my ideals of striving to do work that makes a positive impact on the world.
I love to learn and keep up with the latest health news. I took care of many people with chronic, life altering diseases during my time as a hospital registered nurse. I knew I wanted to find a way to reach more people and help them not get to that point. I want to help people avoid these diseases.
Now I am using my passion for writing and wellness to reach more people and hopefully provide them with information to help them make choices that will have a positive impact on their future.
When I'm not writing or working, I love to spend time with my husband and two children. I am an avid reader. And I also enjoy binge watching a good tv show. I love music and dance when no one is around. One of these days I will actually dance in public. I love to travel and want to fill my passport with stamps before it expires in 2026.
