Writing skills need to be exercised regularly and consistently in order to grow, just like any other activity or skill. Writing is also an excellent activity to help clear the mind before sleep. I have been trying to consistently work on my writing skills and techniques, but so far I have been inconsistent in my efforts.
I enjoy participating in the photo-a-day challenges from time to time. Whenever I feel like my Instagram is getting a bit overwhelmed with cat and dog photos, I decide to participate in one of Fat Mum Slim's monthly photo challenges. It's always a lot of fun and helps up my photo game too. I decided to use the photo-a-day idea to improve the consistency of my writing practice. That's how I came up with the idea of having a different writing prompt for each day of the month and a 5 minute timeframe.
The "Write 5 Minutes"-a-day challenge is simple. Set your timer for 5 minutes and write based off the prompt for the day. Use any writing style you choose and change up your writing style from day to day. It could be fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journaling, etc.
